Will We Be Creators of Love or of Emptiness?
Almost every day, the news tells us of a new, staggering achievement in artificial intelligence. Its exponential rise fills us with wonder, but perhaps also with a subtle fear. Faced with such a powerful technology, one that promises to transform our world, the fundamental question is not “what can it do?” but “for what purpose will we use it?”
The book Theology and Historical Reality offers us a compass to navigate this new era. It reminds us that AI is not a neutral tool. On the contrary, it acts as a powerful amplifier of the ideopraxis—the integrated set of ideas and concrete actions—of those who design and guide it. An AI created solely for profit or control can only build a colder, more fragmented world, accelerating the race toward a transhumanist future that empties humanity of its mystery.
But Revelation unveils a greater truth: history is not meaningless chaos. It is the stage for a
divine invitation. We are called to a sublime vocation: to actively participate in the governance of the universe, collaborating with God’s providential plan. We are not mere spectators, but protagonists.
Seen in this light, the development of AI takes on a new and profound meaning. It becomes one of the greatest opportunities Providence has given us to fulfill our mission. If animated by a
Christic ideopraxis—a worldview founded on love, the inviolable dignity of every person, and the common good—artificial intelligence can become an extraordinary instrument for building the Civilization of Love and Peace.
Let us imagine an AI that helps us eradicate poverty, cure diseases, protect our planet, and promote true justice and global solidarity. Let us imagine a technology that, instead of isolating us in digital bubbles, helps us to better understand each other and to serve the most vulnerable. This is not utopia, but the “natural” consequence of a humanity that chooses to align its creative freedom with the eternal Law of Love.
The challenge is immense, but our calling is even greater. Let us not allow this powerful technology to be guided by ideologies that deny us Heaven. Let us take up our responsibility, with courage and hope, and use it for the purpose for which, ultimately, we were created: to be co-creators with God of a future that reflects His glory.
